eBay emails you when new listings match a saved search, but it never says how quickly. Here is what eBay does say, the fixes that work, and how to hear about a new listing within seconds.
eBay saved search alerts are late because eBay never promised they'd be quick. Its help page says it will email you "when new items matching your search are listed", and that's all it says. There's no timing anywhere in eBay's help. Buyers on eBay's own community forum describe getting their saved search emails once a day, in the morning. So if a good listing sells before your email arrives, nothing is broken. The alert just isn't built for speed. If your alerts have stopped altogether, that's a different problem, and there are a few fixes below that usually sort it.
eBay doesn't say. The saved searches help page on eBay UK says: "We'll send you email alerts when new items matching your search are listed." Further down it says that by default you'll get email alerts "whenever new items match your search or if there are updates to your saved search". Neither sentence tells you how long after a listing goes live the email goes out, and we couldn't find an eBay page that does.
What users report is slower than "whenever" suggests. On eBay's community forum, one buyer wrote that they "used to receive emails revealing the new listings for my saved searches every morning", and another described fixing their "SAVED SEARCH not getting daily emails problem". That fits a digest, not an alert per listing. AutomatedSearches, which sells a paid eBay alert service, wrote in July 2026 that native alerts can "arrive in batches, appear at intervals, or do not show every listing you expected". They have a product to sell, and they cite nothing for it, but it matches what the forum posts describe.
If the emails have stopped completely, check these five things in order. The first three take seconds.

The last two rows are other buyers' experience, not eBay advice. The off-and-on fix comes from a thread on eBay's community forum. Its author waited 8 hours between switching the alerts off and on, and a later reply notes the menu is now called More Actions. There's no option to do every search at once, so it's one at a time. The push notifications page on eBay's help centre lists Saved Searches as its own notification type, alongside order updates and selling alerts, and says you can get notifications through the eBay app, by email or by SMS. You turn them on in two places: your phone has to allow notifications from the eBay app, and then inside the app you pick which ones you want under My eBay, Settings, Notifications.
The same page has a warning for Android owners. If notifications are arriving late, eBay says battery saver may be the cause, and suggests setting the eBay app to Not optimised in the battery settings. Phones differ, so the menu names vary, but most have a battery optimisation list somewhere in Settings.
Check the search yourself, or have something check it for you. eBay's search can be sorted by Time: newly listed, which puts the freshest listings at the top, and a saved search keeps its filters. Whether you hear about a listing the next morning or within a minute comes down to how often the search gets looked at.

Keep eBay's own saved search as well. It costs nothing and it catches anything that slides past the first page on a busy search.
