If the price drops after you buy, some UK shops refund the difference, but only for 7 days and only if you claim. Here is what each one says.
If there is a price drop after purchase, some UK shops will refund the difference, but you have 7 days and you have to claim it yourself. John Lewis refunds you if it cuts its own price within 7 days of your order, and matches 25 competitors over the same window. Currys refunds the difference for 7 days after you buy if you find the same item cheaper at another UK retailer. Argos says it does not price match at all. None of their pages says the shop will tell you when the price moves, so the claim depends on you noticing in time.
These are the shops' own rules, read on 22 September 2026. They change, so check the shop's page before you claim.

Yes, within 7 days. John Lewis's price promise says it will "match our own prices if we've since dropped it ourselves up to 7 days after your purchase", and the 7 days run from "placing the order, not the delivery/collection". So a sofa ordered on a Monday and delivered three weeks later is out of time by the following Monday. The same promise covers 25 main competitors, among them Argos, Boots, Currys, ASOS, Marks & Spencer and Amazon UK, which it matches on electricals only.
It applies to purchases in John Lewis shops, on the website and in the app. To claim you fill in the online form, give evidence John Lewis can check and keep the original receipt. John Lewis says refunds usually arrive within 48 hours, and your bank can take up to 5 more days. Plenty is excluded: clearance, multi-buys, member-only prices, flash sales, voucher code discounts, exclusive and trade prices, refurbished products, financial services and marketplace sellers.
Yes, if another UK retailer is cheaper. Currys' price promise page says "We'll even price match 7 days after your purchase! If you see the same item cheaper elsewhere, we'll refund you the difference." Both Currys and the other shop must have the product "in stock and ready for delivery". Staff, student and blue light codes are excluded, and so are membership and loyalty prices, marketplace sellers and obvious pricing errors. The page talks about prices elsewhere and says nothing about Currys cutting its own price, so do not count on a refund for that. You claim through Webchat, in a store, or by phone.
No. Argos's help page is short: "We don't price match at Argos for both online and in store items." The one exception is its Black Friday Price Guarantee. In 2025, Argos Black Friday ran from 31 October to 2 December, and a product with a Price Guarantee badge came with a promise that the price "won't go lower before midnight on 25th December". If it did, Argos sent an e-gift card for the difference, valid for three months, to the email address given at checkout. That is according to its Black Friday FAQ, which still showed the 2025 dates on 22 September 2026.
Zatu does, on some items. Zatu's Pre-Order Price-Drop Guarantee says that if the price drops between your order and the release date, "you may request a discount code worth the difference". It only applies to items showing the guarantee message on the product page, it ends once the product is on general sale, and the code is issued when your pre-order ships. It is a code, not cash back.
