Chaos Cards sells its most wanted Pokemon products through a draw, not a checkout race. You enter with a card, the shop holds the money, and winners are picked. Here is how it works, in Chaos Cards' own words.
Chaos Cards product drops are draws. The Kent shop uses them for its most wanted Pokemon products, like a new set's Elite Trainer Box, instead of letting the fastest checkout win. You log in, enter while the drop is open, and the shop pre-authorises your card for the price. When entries close it picks winners at random. If you're picked, the order goes through. If you're not, the hold is cancelled, though the shop warns your bank can take up to 10 days to show the money back. The shop says it gets around 60,000 sign-ups for a drop on average, so entering is a chance, not a promise.
Because big releases brought more traffic than the site could take. In its June 2026 blog post, Product Drops: The Fairer Way to Play, Chaos Cards said one high-profile release that year put more than 32,000 people on the site at once and generated over 2 million requests in 30 minutes. The shop says traffic like that can crash the site and turns a launch into fastest finger first, which isn't fair on anyone. A draw takes the speed out of it.
Chaos Cards isn't the only shop doing this. Which?'s guide to buying Pokemon cards in the UK lists Chaos Cards among the shops that sell the newest packs through a drop, where you create an account and wait for an email invitation. Amazon does something similar with its Request invitation button.

The blog post says you must be logged in to take part. An account is free.
Find the product with the drop label
Drop products carry a Product drop label on the category pages and a yellow sash on the product page.
Enter while the drop is open
When a drop is open, the product page shows a View the Product Drop button. Before it opens, you only get Notify me.
Your card is pre-authorised
Chaos Cards holds the amount on your card before running the draw. It shows as pending while the draw happens.
Wait for the draw
Once the drop closes, the shop says it can take a few hours for all the entries to be processed.
Win and the order goes through, or lose and the hold is cancelled
If you aren't picked, no money leaves your account. Your bank may take up to 10 days to show the hold has gone.
The Product Drops page describes this pre-authorised version as a new system it's "currently testing". The older one, which the blog post still describes, worked differently: you signed up for stock notifications on the product and got an email with purchase details if you were picked. So if a drop's wording doesn't match the steps above, check which system that drop is using.
From the moment you enter until the draw is done, and then possibly longer on your bank's side. The hold sits on your card for the whole time the drop is open. If you lose, Chaos Cards cancels the authorisation. The FAQ says "No money will leave your account, though it may take up to 10 days for your bank to reflect the updated balance."
If you want to keep your funds held for less time consider entering closer to the deadline.
That's the shop's own advice, and it's worth taking if money is tight. Nothing on the page says entering early improves your odds, so the only thing an early entry changes is how long the money is held. If your bank is still showing the hold ten days after a losing draw, contact Chaos Cards and your bank, since the hold shows on the bank's side.
Losing a draw improves your chances in the next one. The Product Drops page says that if you're unsuccessful in a new-style drop, you get an extra entry for the next drop you join. The FAQ puts the cap at 4 extra entries, so the most anyone can have in one drop is 5. You can see how many you've built up in your account when you join a new drop.

Most likely the one-per-customer check. The FAQ says the system "automatically flags and cancels multiple orders from the same account, including different accounts with the same delivery address." So a second account at the same address is the usual reason.
The notice at the top of the same page is softer. It says more than one person living at an address may apply, and that this "will not automatically result in an order being cancelled". What gets cancelled and refunded is anything that looks like an attempt to get round the limits. If two genuine people in one house both won and one order was cancelled, that notice is the one to point to when you contact the shop. The address you check out with is final, so if it's wrong, cancel the entry and put in a new one before the drop closes.
You have to look, because the shop doesn't list live drops anywhere obvious. The Product Drops page explains the rules but doesn't show which drops are open. What does change is the product itself. Before a drop opens, the product shows Coming soon and a Notify me button. There's a catch if you plan to watch for a word. The stock line on a drop's category tile can still say Coming soon while the drop is open, so waiting for Coming soon to disappear will miss it. Open the Pokemon category the product sits in
Elite Trainer Boxes, booster boxes and so on. Sort it by release date, newest first, so the upcoming drops sit at the top of the first page.
Set up a visual selector monitor on StockWatch
Paste the category link and click the button on the tile you want, the one that says Notify me. Only that button is watched.
Wait for it to change
You get a content change alert when the button's wording changes, which is what happens when the drop opens for entries.
Enter from your account
Log in, open the product and join the drop. If you'd rather the card hold was shorter, you can enter nearer the deadline.
