I'm not getting any alerts

  • Open the monitor and press Test alert. It sends a test alert to everything you've set up and tells you which ones it used.
  • A monitor marked Reaches nobody has nowhere to send its alerts. Setting up alerts fixes that.
  • Email needs four things switched on, and there is a monthly allowance. The email part of Setting up alerts lists them.
  • Look at the monitor's What should we tell you about? list. Price drops and sold out are off to start with, and Only deals holds back full-price restocks.
  • Check the monitor's keyword boxes aren't leaving out everything you want.

What the line under a monitor means

When a monitor's checks stop getting through, a line under it says why. It only appears once the checks have been failing for ten minutes, so a check that fails and works again a moment later is never shown.

  • "The shop's website turned this check away." The shop refused that visit. It usually sorts itself out. If it carries on, check less often, or press Run it in my browser if the monitor offers it. That moves the monitor to your own Chrome with the extension, which may get in where our servers can't.
  • "The shop asked us to slow down for a moment." We try again shortly. If you see it a lot, check less often.
  • "The shop says this page isn't there any more." The product has moved or been taken down. If it has moved, press Edit the link and paste the new one.
  • "The shop is closed to visitors right now." The monitor keeps checking while the shop is shut.
  • "The shop has a queue up for visitors." We keep checking until the queue clears.
  • "The shop's website didn't answer properly." That is normally a problem at the shop's end, and the next check tries again.
  • "We got to the shop but couldn't read the page." If it keeps happening, the shop may have changed its site. Report it and we'll look.
  • "Something went wrong on our side." There is nothing you need to do. The next check tries again.
  • "The last check didn't go through." We keep trying at the usual times.

If the failures carry on, the monitor pauses itself and the line says so. Press Resume to start it again.

Other things a monitor can say

  • Reaches nobody. The monitor is running but has nowhere to send its alerts. Setting up alerts fixes that.
  • Password page. The shop has put a password page up, which some shops do ahead of a drop. This isn't a fault. The monitor keeps checking, and you get the alert when the page comes down.
  • Not checking right now. The monitor runs in your own Chrome, and Chrome looks closed. Open Chrome and the checks start again.
  • (throttled). The monitor was slowed down when your plan changed. It goes back to its old speed if you upgrade.
  • Pick them again. The shop has changed its page and the thing you picked can't be found. Press it and pick again.
  • "...is under review, so this monitor is paused for now." We have paused that shop's monitors while we look into something. There is nothing to do. It doesn't count towards your plan while it waits, and it starts again by itself.
  • "We couldn't find any products on this page, so we've stopped checking it." The link doesn't lead to products StockWatch can read. To watch one product, paste its own link into the box at the top of Monitors. See Watching one product from a link.
  • Saved, and paused for now. Your plan's cloud monitors are all in use. Plans and limits explains the choices.
  • Not running. The monitor is switched on, but your plan's cloud monitors are all in use, so it's waiting for one. It starts by itself when one comes free. To start it sooner, pause another monitor, run it in your own browser, give it proxies of your own, or upgrade. If a swap would start it, its card has Run this one instead.

The email to confirm my address hasn't arrived

Look in your spam and promotions folders. If it isn't there, press Send it again on the dashboard. Until your address is confirmed, your account runs one monitor.

A link I pasted couldn't be read

Watching one product from a link goes through what to try.

Still stuck?

Press the flag on the monitor's card, or Report a problem when you open it, and tell us what's wrong. The monitor's details come with it, so there's nothing to copy in. If one alert looked wrong, report it from the monitor it came from and choose "I got an alert that was wrong". If we need more from you we'll ask on your report, and you'll get a notification. Every report you have sent is on Your reports and requests.
